Benneth Husted, D.O.
Founder and Medical Director

A graduate of Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Husted is the founder of Housecall Providers. In 1992, she left behind the standard U.S. model for practicing primary care medicine to devote all her time to serving homebound patients. By 1995, she had attracted enough supporters for her house call practice to launch a nonprofit--Housecall Providers Inc. -dedicated to serving homebound patients. In 2011, Dr. Husted transferred the executive director title to her longtime colleague, Terri Hobbs. She continues as Housecall Providers' medical director.

Terri Hobbs
Executive Director

Terri Hobbs was named executive director of Housecall Providers in July 2011. Hired by the nonprofit in 2001, she served in various capacities, most recently as administrator and development director. A native of the Portland area, she entered the health care field at age 18 as the receptionist with a chiropractic clinic. After seven years with the chiropractic clinic, she was hired by Dr. Thomas Hickerson, a family physician in Damascus. She worked with Dr. Hickerson for 11 years, eight as his office manager. Following that experience, she became involved in elder care, and was subsequently hired by Housecall Providers. Terri and Medical Director Benneth Husted have worked as a team to build Housecall Providers into a true health care success story.

Rebecca Ashling
MSN RN, Hospice Program Director

Rebecca Ashling graduated from Walla Walla College School of Nursing in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and from the University of Phoenix in 2006 with a Master’s of Science in Nursing. Prior to nursing school she worked as a nursing and medical assistant for 13 years. After nursing school Rebecca entered maternal/child nursing and then discovered her passion for hospice, feeling that a “snapshot” of a patient did not allow her to provide comprehensive care. Rebecca is passionate about all-embracing end of life care and making sure that all of the “pieces” fit together for every patient and family.

Lara Garrett
MD, Hospice Medical Director

Dr. Lara Garrett graduated from Oregon Health Sciences University in 2000, completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Providence Portland Medical Center in 2003 and was selected to serve as their Chief Resident the following year. She remained at PPMC as a full time hospitalist for a brief time before discovering her passion: caring and advocating for homebound, medically fragile elderly patients and their families. She joined Housecall Providers in 2005 as a primary care practitioner and in 2009 transitioned into her current role as Hospice Medical Director. Dr.Garrett is Board Certified in Internal Medicine with subspecialty certification in Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
