HOSPICE VOLUNTEERS WANTED
Housecall Providers is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that brings primary care medical housecalls to homebound seniors and people with disabilities throughout the Portland metro area. Our hospice program serves our own patients who are near the end of life. Our goal is help our patients remain in their homes and communities with high-quality care, pain management and family support.
Hospice volunteers will receive comprehensive training with all the information they will need to be comfortable and prepared for their role. They perform a range of services that may include friendly visiting, reading to a patient, housekeeping, running errands, or providing respite care and family support. Volunteers with all kinds of special skills, such as barbering/hair styling, massage or playing music are also needed. Volunteers of all ages are welcome. Housecall Providers will support our volunteers through individual and group meetings and debriefings.
Hospice patients are seen in their homes. Visits are scheduled at the mutual convenience of the volunteer, patient and family. Training will be in the Housecall Providers office on SE Belmont St, over three consecutive evenings, for a total of twelve hours.
If you are interested, please contact Mary Beth Weaver at 503 988-5303 or mbweaver@housecallproviders.org
Do you ever shop on line?
If you do, we have a new way for you to support Housecall Providers. Called CafeGive, and accessed here from the Housecall Providers website, it is a link to many merchants who agree to give us a small percentage of their sales made through our link.
The donation actually comes from the merchants and does not change what the consumer pays for their purchase. If you log onto the Housecall Providers website, you will see the CafeGive name and logo on the homepage. If you click on it, you enter the CafeGive website, which will tell you that you are shopping to benefit Housecall Providers. From there, you choose the merchant you wish to shop with (there are over 200). You are directed to their site and your purchases are tracked. Each merchant gives a different percentage to the nonprofits that participate. Every quarter, Housecall Providers receives a check from CafeGive based on purchases made through our link. It costs you nothing and adds virtually no time to your online shopping. There has never been an easier way to support us!
